Advice for Teachers - TCP/IP

Within the scope of this application the TCP/IP is described in detail referring to a layer model and minute header. Here, application-, transport-, internet-, and subnet layer are considered. At first the importance and function of each layer are explained step by step, then the communication channels in between the layers are illustrated.

There are different possibilities to use the applet. The content may be viewed in a linear succession of steps controlled by the user. Moreover, by choosing single passages directly within the model, the respective topic may be chosen and displayed.

The didactic surplus is quite evident. Observing the processes happen in reality is impossible, while a solely theoretical presentation requires a high ability to imagine as well as to abstract. Here, a complementary combination of theory and graphic depiction is offered, which could not be achieved by customary means.

In central places there are exercises specific to the respective educational element. Here, students are able to practice and intensify their knowledge specifically on the topics “Routing and IP-Fields“, “TCP and Checksums“, “Routing and Layer Model“, and “Data Transport via different Networks“
