Advice for Teachers

In order to support teachers with their specific choice of single multi-media based components for the respective teaching-and-learning-process, a special export interface of all media elements developed (educational texts, graphics, animations, applets) is offered. There, all of the media elements are listed according to chapters (each linked directly), the type of the element is specified, and the element itself is characterized in a short description.

In the field of Computer Networks and distributed Systems there are different textbooks, which are well proven in teaching-and-learning-processes. The goal of the RvS-Materials is not to replace these textbooks by eLearning-Materials, but to complement the traditional lecture by means of animations and visualizations of complex concepts as well as of interactive exercises multi-medially in terms of Blended Learning, in order to achieve a didactic surplus.

Every topic contains an example of application, learning goals, an introductory text illustrated with graphics as well as elaborate animations and applets for the visualization and exploration of complex informatics principles from the field of Computer Networks and distributed Systems. Below a choice of these elements is described in detail (including a description of the range of function and possibilities of application).

Chapter:Safety within Networks
Topic:Firewall
Description: Simulation and interactive exercises on the operating mode of a Firewall
Chapter:Wide Area Networks
Topic:Coding Methods
Description: Simulation and interactive exercises on the Coding Methods NRZ, NRZI and Manchester
